PROJECT SCOPE
Interior Design – Selection of interior & exterior finishes, including cladding, flooring, paints, cabinetry, tiles, carpet, door hardware & feature lighting.
Interior Decoration – Complete furniture selection, including custom sofa, lounge chairs & dining table, furniture layout, custom curtains & blinds, artwork commissions, as well as alfresco furniture.
I was thrilled to be engaged in the very early stages of the planning process of this new home build.
My clients live and work on the land in their family business. They had lived in their home, a humble little shack, bringing up their family of three for a very long time.
After much planning with an architect, they had come up with a design to suit the rolling landscape of the Yarra Valley and to place their own mark on the land.
It was a daunting task for this busy couple, knowing full well it was beyond their area of expertise to be choosing colours, materials & finishes for their grand design.
I was engaged even before the concrete slab was poured to assist with the interior design of their new home.
Every step of the way I was involved with selections, layouts and later on interior decoration and furnishings.
Over the course of the build, which spanned 18 months, I was the first port of call if any design decision had to be made.
There was an extensive amount of cabinetry to be designed and made, so I entrusted my colleague, Susan Wasley to take care of that for us.
I also enlisted another expert, Adele Locke of Mint Lighting to prepare a lighting plan so that this wonderful architecture could be showcased in the best possible light.
The biggest challenge for the builder, Mitch Stevens of Hi Style Building Group, was all the curved glass windows and walls in the home. This actually inspired a lot of the interior fit out, including the magnificent curved kitchen island bench!
Overall it was a real triumph bringing together a skilled team of craftsmen, trades and designers to work in a collaborative way.
I am extremely proud of this project, one of my biggest and best to date, with my ideal client, it was a dream job!
